This is an overview of the benefits available to University of New Mexico (UNM) employees. Please see the benefits information from the UNM Human Resources Benefits website.

There will be a presentation by HR at New Faculty Orientation. We would like to make it more into a clarification session. Therefore, please make yourself thoroughly familiar with the included information before arriving for New Faculty Orientation.



Eligibility and Enrollment

Benefits eligibility and levels of benefits are determined by employment classification. Certain benefits have limited trimeframes in which to enroll, so it is crucial that you review enrollment information to meet the time-sensitive requirements.



Medical Plans

UNM offers medical coverage options through three Third Party Administrators (TPAs). Review options below for details.

Once you have enrolled with your chosen your TPA, you will have access to three different networks of coverage (including the LoboCare Network ), each time you need medical care. The network you choose at the time of service determines your out-of-pocket costs for services received.


Prescription Drug Plan

Enrollment in the UNM Prescription Drug Plan is automatic once enrolled in a UNM Health, BlueCross BlueShield of New Mexico, or Presbyterian Medical Plan.



Dental Plans

UNM offers two dental plan options through Delta Dental of New Mexico: Delta PPO (low cost options), and Delta Premier (high cost option).

Vision UNM offers one vision plan, the Vision Service Plan and it is 100% employee paid.

MANDATORY RETIREMENT PLANS

Please pay careful attention to your retirement options.   It is time-sensitive and has long-term consequences.  There are two mandatory retirement options (follow the links below for in-depth explanations):
