Teaching and Mentoring

As a new faculty member at UNM, you are part of a team of faculty and staff, who put student success above all else. The success of our students depends on teaching, mentoring and being part of the creative and discovery process. Thus, your success directly impacts student success.

Here are some steps you need to take the first few days of class and the rest of the semester:

Teaching Support

New faculty at UNM arrive with varying degrees of teaching experience. There are resources on campus to help you get started, improve your students’ learning, and give you access to the latest research on college teaching. The Center for Teaching Excellence offers consultations, teaching grants, teaching awards, course design institutes, workshops on a range of topics, and a library of teaching materials. The Center also runs the UNM Teaching Fellows Program, a competitive fellowship for faculty interested in producing research on their own students’ learning.
